Good story about my efforts to improve the homeowner notification process for utility company vegetation removal plans from Wicked Local Duxbury:

Legislation proposed as NStar replants in Duxbury

Rep. Josh Cutler testified last month before the state Department of Public Utilities Commissioners on the department’s draft regulations establishing requirements for notification of vegetation maintenance activities in transmission rights-of-way.

The state House has proposed legislation to improve vegetation management plans by public utilities. Cutler said it incorporates some of the recommendations he made in his testimony to the DPU.

It also adds a number of additional protections for towns and homeowners in the process, including consideration for endangered species, storm-water management, public water-supply protection and septic treatment areas. Read More.
