Local priorities restored in budget

Today we are taking up veto overrides at the State House. I'm pleased to report that we have restored funding in FY18 budget for several local priorities of mine: $20,000 for Wampatuck Pond testing in Hanson, $25,000 for the Pembroke Soup Connection, Inc., $50,000 for technology improvements at Pembroke Public Schools, $50,000 for Duxbury Senior Center improvements, $25,000 for Pembroke public safety, $100,000 for mental health referral service in South Shore that benefits Duxbury and Pembroke, $50,000 for Central Plymouth Water District which benefits Hanson and Pembroke, $100,000 for arbovirus, EEE and West Nile treatments in Plymouth County and $100,000 for Herring Run Park in Pembroke. These overrides were all passed in the House by a 2/3 vote, most on a bipartisan basis. Thank you to my House colleagues for supporting them. The next step is to take them up in the Senate which I expect will happen soon.
