Sex offender laws strengthened

New language in a FY2014 state budget will strengthen the Massachusetts’ Sex Offender Registry Board by adding Level 2 sex offenders to the Commonwealth’s database. Under current law, the public only has access to information on Level 3 sex offenders.  Individuals and families will now have the right to see all the information that is available in order to make their own determinations on what steps to take to keep themselves, their families and their neighborhoods safe. The status of Level I offenders, classified as the least likely risk for reoffense, remain unchanged.
