$500 million: Clean School Bus Rebate Program
$1 billion: Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Grant

Clean School Bus Program:
Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
EPA’s new Clean School Bus Program provides $5 billion over the next five years (FY 2022-2026) to replace existing school buses with zero-emission and low-emission models. EPA is offering $500 million through the 2022 Clean School Bus Rebates for zero-emission and low-emission school bus rebates as the first funding opportunity.
EPA anticipates offering $250 million for clean school buses and $250 million for zero-emission school buses.
The application closing date is August 19, 2022.
Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Grant:
National Telecommunications and Information Administration (NTIA)
The NTIA has published a Notice of Funding Opportunity (NOFO) for $1 billion in grant funding through the Middle Mile Broadband Infrastructure Grant (MMG) Program
The MMG provides funding for the construction, improvement, or acquisition of middle mile infrastructure. The purpose of the grant program is to expand and extend middle mile infrastructure to reduce the cost of connecting areas that are unserved or underserved to the internet backbone.
The application closing date is September 30, 2022.
Safe Streets and Roads for All:
U.S. Department of Transportation
The IIJA established the new Safe Streets and Roads for All (SS4A) discretionary program with $5 billion in appropriated funds over the next 5 years. In fiscal year 2022, up to $1 billion is available. The SS4A program funds regional, local, and Tribal initiatives through grants to prevent roadway deaths and serious injuries.
The following activities are eligible for the SS4A program:
Develop or update a comprehensive safety action plan (Action Plan).
Conduct planning, design, and development activities in support of an Action Plan.
Carry out projects and strategies identified in an Action Plan.
